A tale of two heroes

I've always thought that the man who stood in front of that tank on that fateful day was one brave soul who stood his ground in the name of democracy.

However I had forgotten that there was another man in the equation, the one who was inside the belly of the iron beast.

The tank driver could easily be court marshalled by the army for not driving his tank forward. I suppose a direct violation of his superior's order would spell death by firing squad (... okay maybe not but what the heck - i'm such a helpless romantic fool when it comes to tales of bravery & courage).

Instead the man inside the tank made his stand on that day too. A universal truth proclaimes that it is not easy to take another man's life.

(especially if that man was only armed with 2 TESCO grocery bags)

Wow, that's really food for thought now, isn't it? We've completely ignored the soldier under instructions to propel the tank forward.

What a different world it would be if we could all see each other as fellow humans, like the tank driver did!

Thank you for your kind words in my blog.

CO78: Life perspectives is so much different depending from where we sit. Let's hope world leaders use 'smiling emoticons' when they chat on yahoo msngr.

Ordinary superhero: Yeah time is a funny thing. Time does pass, but it rarely forgets. (whatever that means)

JerryInc: I thought I saw oranges. A whole lotta them.

Good one. I must admit I never given a thought for the man inside the tank... but the fella with the TESCO grocery bags... now, THAT took the cake! *laughs*

When it comes to looking at an issue from the barrel of a (big) gun as opposed as into it (the gun's barrel), the big winner I suppose, is conscience or the lack of it - a deficiency common among those stricken with blind loyalty !
Cheers.

Andrea: The little things that amuse us all. Subtle yet wonderful.

Ocho-Onda: Lack of conscience could be the root of evil deeds that plagued our world.

Pat: I fancy dogs' personality. What more can I say.

We choose what we want to see, thus many problems are left unsolved.

Perhaps one day we see life through the eyes of our enemies? Difficult, but not impossible.

King Richard the Lion Heart was once extremely ill and was cured by a mysterious physician, which later revealed to be no other than his own arch enemy - the great Salahudin Al Ayubi AKA Saladin himself.
